Chase Terrace Park bulb planting day

Everyone’s invited to help plant spring bulbs on Saturday 24 January 2015, from 11am to 1pm.

Thanks to a donation of £200 by County Councillor Sue Woodward, through the Staffordshire Local Community Fund, Lichfield District Council’s parks team is inviting local people to help them plant more than 1,500 bulbs at Chase Terrace Park this January.

The bulbs will be planted under the trees and around the main entrance of the park. In the spring the park should be full of colour when English bluebells, snowdrops daffodils and crocuses come into bloom.

Councillor Andy Smith, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure & Parks, said: “This is a good opportunity for local people to volunteer for their local park. Thank you to Councillor Woodward for once again donating the money to buy the bulbs – we’re all looking forward to seeing the flowers this springtime.”

Staffordshire County Councillor for Chase Terrace Ward, Susan Woodward, said: “More than 25 people joined in the last bulb planting day, and I hope plenty of volunteers with once again roll up their sleeves to help improve this fantastic local park.”

The bulb planting day is running on Saturday 24 January between 11am and 1pm and it is open to all. The council’s parks team is reminding volunteers to wear strong footwear and suitable clothing, and to bring along gardening gloves if they have them.
